Overview

Sushi Iki, located on Ventura Boulevard in Tarzana, is a gem for sushi aficionados seeking an elevated, authentic omakase experience. This intimate sushi restaurant operates under the skilled guidance of Chef Eddie and his wife, whose dedication to quality and tradition shines through every dish. The setting complements the culinary craftsmanship with elegant wood paneling, tasteful stone and tile work, and a soothing mini waterfall that invites diners into a serene atmosphere, perfect for savoring fine Japanese cuisine.

The menu is anchored by high-quality, fresh seafood with notable highlights such as Yellowtail Toro, Uni Sushi, and Live Scallop paired with luxurious elements like Black Truffle Foie Gras and Caviar. Sushi Iki elevates the nigiri experience with selections like Blue Fin Super Toro and Sea Bream (shima Aji), each cut and served with precision. For those drawn to innovative rolls, options such as the Billy Roll and Eddie Roll blend a variety of textures and flavors without the usual rice base, emphasizing the fish and tempura components.

Beyond sushi, appetizers like Baked Chilean Miso Sea Bass and Jumbo Soft Shell Crab showcase the restaurant’s flair for balancing rich umami notes with delicate preparation. The signature yuzu and strawberry sorbet — a thoughtful touch made from yuzu grown in Chef Eddie’s own yard — offers a refreshing palate cleanser and a glimpse into the chef’s personal connection to his ingredients.

Sushi Iki caters to discerning diners who appreciate not only the art of sushi but also a refined dining ambiance. Regular guests praise the impeccable service and the restaurant’s commitment to safety, including required vaccination, which adds an extra layer of comfort. From casual date nights to special occasions, the experience here is intimate yet polished, making it ideal for those seeking a memorable and unique sushi journey in the Los Angeles area.

Sushi master Chef Eddie and his sweet wife run this restaurant intimately and efficiently. The fish is of high quality with some pieces unique to lki. He offers only dinner omakase at either $100, $200, or an open tab to include King Crab. Service is excellent. Ambiance is elegant and cosy: beautiful wood paneling, stone and tile work with beautiful touches like a wall hung mini water fall. Reservations are a must and they request diners be adequately vaccinated for COVID-19. Highly recommended.

We love sushi and have been to some of the higher end spots - nozawa bar, matsuhisa, nobu, valley katsuyas, etc. Will try anything if the place is trustworthy! We had just had a baby and were finally getting out for a date night and wanted a fun omakase nearby. Sushi iki was by far our most exciting and delicious sushi experience (and most expensive ). Chef Eddie and his wife put on an amazing dinner service and the whole experience is so authentic. He even grew the yuzu in his yard to make his sorbet. Really something else. Hope to come back here every year or so for an extremely special meal!

It's definitely a very delightfully superb experience. Best quality sushi we had in a while. Chef Okamoto is fun. We went for our 15 year anniversary. Quality exceeded price. Please visit and enjoy the art of gastronomy experience

A must-do if you're in the area. An absolute intimate experience with Chef Eddie and his lovely wife. Took my mom for her birthday and we both had the best time. The uni and ikura were some of the finest I have ever had - indeed this place reminded me what good ikura actually tastes like. If you can afford the higher tier - do it.

We drive 60 miles each way for this great place. Visit every 2 months. Have run into two 16 year regular customers. Eddie and his wife Nikkie are a joy. The sushi is just incredible. Tried the LIVE King Crab from Hokkaido last visit. Just amazingly sweet and succulent. That is FRESH. Eddie does go to the fish market probably 2x a week. Gets there at 4:30am. There is no place better IMHO...
